This is a one of a kind piece of wearable art made for the Five and Diamond Ninth Annual Headgear Art Show and shown on June 18, 2021.

Dreamtime is the space where ideas, realities, possibilities emerge, a realm of ether and potentials, accessible through the in-between spaces, times, sensations, consciousnesses. Realm of Spirit. The entire piece is in black- textures and details catching the light, like a raven wing. The Raven communicates between dimensions, realms, spaces, from the world of Dreams to Waking. The detailing in front is simple, beading in black , recovered from a vintage dress that was in the archives of Silver Lucy. The headpiece is worn with the wings in the back, framing the head with wings of a butterfly, wings of the raven, like an oversized bow tied at the nape of the neck. Inspirations- Neal Stephenson’s FALL, Geju (find them on Spotify), Portals, Death & Rebirth, how small things repeated become big things, become currents, tides, seismic shifts. Made for any gender. MATERIALS USED

Upcycled beaded appliqué, black satin dress, black cotton dress, new elastic, net, fused cream silk, wood, thread, beads, satin ribbon 

WEARING INSTRUCTIONS

FREE SIZE, FREE GENDER. Thin beaded headband across front, tag on inside at nape of neck, wings at base of skull, where the cerebellum sits. CARE: wash ONLY by hand or use compressed air on wings to dust. Mild soap and sponge to spot clean, gentle hand wash in sink for headstrap, dry flat. Adjustable with ribbons as needed. Store boxed or flat.
